Futures and Forex trading and possible to make money

We made a couple of tics today in the eurodollar futures. In the month of August we opted to take our money when the profits reached our break-even floor. We made 41% on our 5k account that month. In September we opted to not take the profit at that point but try and let the trade run further. We made 6.4% which gave us a $320 profit v.s. the 2k+ profit in August. It is also much easier to take the profit rather than make a decision on each trade as to when and where you will exit. We are fortunate to have made a profit considering the market and the fact that most lost a considerable amount of money. We are not taking a position on the results because of the market conditions but will still consider the different options of exiting our trades. Those that took their profits using the same criteria we did in August made considerabely more money than we did. We should see the volotility recede now that the rescue plan is making progress through congress. Whether or not this is the bottom is another story. We stand by our earlier comments that the bottom is not in and will not be for awhile.
