Daily Market Commentary for July 8, 2008 from

Major foreign markets were sharply lower on the trading session with the major U.S. indices taunting negative territory throughout the trading day but, maintained positive territory into the early afternoon trading session. As the trading session moved into the final hour of trading, the DOW was successful at posting a triple digit gain.()

At the closing bell on the Stock Exchange, here is how the major world indices and major U.S. indices ended the session on the world market as well as the emerging markets including the stock market closing price:

DOW (Dow Jones Industrial Average) triple digit gain of 152.25 points on the day to end the trading session at 11,384.21
NYSE (New York Stock Exchange) triple digit gain of 115.58 points to end the trading session at 8,515.79
NASDAQ gain of 51.10 points to end the trading session at 2,294.42
S&P 500 gain of 21.39 points to end the trading session at 1,273.70
FTSE All-World ex-U.S. loss of 0.77 points to end the trading session at 224.77
FTSE RAFI 1000 triple digit gain of 117.33 points to end the trading session at 4,950.20
BEL 20 (BEL20) loss of 57.01 points to end the trading session at 3,010.44
CAC 40 (CAC40) loss of 66.98 points to end the trading session at 4,275.61
FTSE100 (UKX100) loss of 72.2 points to end the trading session at 5,440.5
NIKKEI 225 (NIK/O) triple digit loss of 326.94 points to end the trading session at 13,033.10

Other Commodities (cents per bu.): Corn (CBT) shed 24.50 on the day for a closing price of 723.00 and Soybeans (CBT) shed 31.50 on the day for a closing price of 1,529.50.

Redbook data: U.S. Retail Sales fell 0.5% for five weeks of June versus May.

U.S. May Wholesale Inventories rose 0.8% as compared to expectations of an increase of 0.6%.

According to the National Association of Realtors, U.S. May Pending Home Sales fell 14.0% from May 2007 and
U.S. Pending Home Sales Index fell 4.7% in May.
