Super sweet, rich and gooey news today when Mars announced the $23 Billion all cash offer for William Wrigley Jr. Corporation (NYSE: WWY), financing courtesy of Berkshire Hathaway. Wrigley posted a 14 plus point gain at the closing bell. ()

At the closing bell on the Stock Exchange, here is how the major world indices and major U.S. indices ended the session on the U.S. Markets:

DOW (Dow Jones Industrial Average) loss of 20.11 points on the day to end the session at 12,871.75

NYSE (New York Stock Exchange) gain of 5.30 points to end the session at 9,349.61

NASDAQ gain of 1.47 points for a close at 2,424.40

S&P 500 loss of 1.47 points for a close at 1,396.37

FTSE All-World ex-U.S. gain of 0.76 points to close at 252.03

CAC 40 gain of 34.54 points on the day to end the session at 5,012.75

Energy Sector:
Light Crude (NYM) gained $0.23 on the day to close at $118.75 a barrel ($US per bbl.); Heating Oil (NYM) had no change to close at $3.29 a gallon ($US per gal.); Natural Gas (NYM) gained $0.23 on the day to close at $11.33 per million BTU ($US per mmbtu.); Unleaded Gas (NYM) shed $0.02 on the day to close at $3.03 a gallon ($US per gal.).

Metals Markets:
Gold (CMX) gained $5.80 to close at $895.50 ($US per Troy oz.); Silver (CMX) gained $0.17 to close at $17.12 ($US per Troy oz.); Platinum (NYM) gained $10.60 to close at $1,978.60 ($US per Troy oz.) and Copper (CMX) gained $0.02 to close at $3.93 ($US per lb.).

Livestock and Meat Markets (cents per lb.):
Lean Hogs (CME) shed 0.90 to close at 75.45; Pork Bellies (CME) shed 2.55 to close at 74.25; Live Cattle (CME) gained 0.38 to close at 93.78; Feeder Cattle (CME) shed 1.48 to close at 109.18.

Other Commodities (cents per bu.):
Corn (CBT) gained 22.75 to close the session at 613.50 and Soybeans (CBT) shed 39.50 to close the session at 1,297.50.

Bonds were higher across the board today:
2 year bond gained 4/32 to close at 99 17/32 with a Yield of 2.35, Yield Change 0.06; 5 year bond gained 8/32 to close at 100 with a Yield of 3.12, Yield Change 0.05; 10 year bond gained 11/32 to close at 97 11/32 with a Yield of 3.82, Yield Change 0.05; the 30 year bond gained 17/32 to close at 96 31/32 on the day with a Yield of 4.56, Yield Change 0.03.
