Stocks in Europe closed up higher
Stocks in Europe closed up higher as gains in the oil sector offset Nokia slumping after it issued a profit warning. The energy sector provided support to european stocks and thus helped them to close on a good note.
Peter Dixon, economist at Commerzbank said: "We have had a decent run over the past few days and obviously there are limits to the extent which optimism is going to recover. US housing starts were also weak and that is going to weigh on market sentiment to a degree."
FTSE ended the day 0.3 percent higher, CAC and DAX rose 0.3 and 0.4 percent respectively.
