You need first to get a basic idea about what general keywords you want to target. Then, you can go to tools.seobook.com, pick the keyword tool and see what longer tail keywords will be suggested. Picks ones with good search volume and low competition (that will be hard of course)

Usually I use google adword keyword tool and check my competitors' keywords

You can use google insights to check the traffic on your chosen keywords. Second you can use google operators of allinurl:[Keyword] and allintilte: [Keywords]. These operators will tell you how many people are using the keyword in there URL and titles.
